Satanism and the occult is a very easy way to piss off Christians and Satanism in literature has been pissing off Christians for hundreds of years. Mostly, it's just a very prevalent symbol common in heavy metal. There's a ton of those guys that analyze every music video and watch for symbolism that proves their conspiracy theories about the devil and the bible and they wind up helping sell more publicity for all these videos. Many Christians believe in that whole Illuminati thing and see the devil horns as a symbol in media that shows how 'satanic' and 'evil' Hollywood is to the youth of America. The Devil Horns is treated as a satanic symbol. They make those games as awful as they can, then market the game based on the anti-social aspects of the game. They aren't Christian, so it's not like they're breaking any sins or anything.Ĭhristians get riled up, which turns into free publicity and teenagers want it even more. Hollywood sells sex, violence, drug use, atheism, ultra gay lifestyles, and basically anything else deemed 'morally corrupt'. Hollywood & the recording industry is predominately Jewish and has different attitudes about religion.Ĭontroversy sells. Traditionally, the US has a predominately Christian background and there's still lots of them left. My take on the devil horns is that it's basically to troll Christians. A variant of the Horns, formed upside down with the thumb pointed outward, is often used by rivals of the Longhorns and is considered insulting, especially when performed by a player or coach of the team in question. It is one of the most recognized hand signals of all American universities. The sign is often seen at sporting events, during the playing of the school song " The Eyes of Texas", and during the playing of the school fight song " Texas Fight". The arm is usually extended, but the sign can also be given with the arm bent at the elbow. The sign is made by extending the index and pinky fingers while grasping the second and third fingers with the thumb. The gesture is meant to approximate the shape of the head and horns of the UT mascot, the Texas Longhorn Bevo. Students and alumni of the university employ a greeting consisting of the phrase "Hook 'em" or "Hook 'em Horns" and also use the phrase as a parting good-bye or as the closing line in a letter or story. Hook 'em Horns is the slogan and hand signal of The University of Texas at Austin. This includes photos, which are not obviously retro and portraits of famous young women doing nothing but posing.
